Following the Court of Appeal’s recent ruling for Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust’s case that car parking income should not be treated as standard rated for VAT, we have continued to submit numerous claims for VAT recovery, which are now being paid out.

Having discovered the issue in 2017, Liaison Financial has supported Northumbria and other trusts to reach this decision, and are now assisting those trusts to bring the claims up to date, with the total tax at stake for past periods in the region of £70m.

“The recent Court of Appeal ruling is a breakthrough for the NHS working in partnership with Liaison Financial, and we are pleased to continue providing our support and expertise to benefit NHS organisations.”

 – Kenny Lee, Head of Tax Services, Liaison Financial
